Aikido in Leadership

Practicing a martial art is not about beeing better than the other. It’s about beeing better than you were yesterday. – a martial arts saying

WHAT IS AIKIDO?

Aikido is a modern Japanese art of self-defense. The current form of the discipline was formed in the first half of the 20th century, but its roots go back to the time of the samurai. One of the most distinctive features of Aikido is the use of an attacker’s strength to neutralize the attack – which requires blending and going with the energy to lead it.

WHY AIKIDO & LEADERSHIP?

Bringing extraordinary philosophy of aikido into the business gives unique results in your effectiveness and satisfation.

Practicing martial arts isn’t that much about self-defense but more about self-discovery/self-development and application of these discoveries & principles in everyday life.

For nearly two decades, using simple exercises, we’ve been bringing the experience & insights from studying and teaching aikido into the business world to support leaders to:

Stay calm and relaxed under stress & pressure.
Stay open-minded & relaxed during change and emergence of unknown.
Manage one’s energy & lead the energy of others.
Use conflict as an opportunity to grow.
Be in touch with one’s body and what it communicates.
Be sensitive & empathetic to others.
Build relationships based on deep trust & respect.
Be of service & support to the ones that decided to trust and follow them.
Realize that development is much more about failing and making mistakes than making it right by the first attempt (creating a safe space to develop & grow).
Be a role model for their teams as lifelong students (like there is no end to studying martial arts).
